This site first saw the light of day at the beginning of April 2000. As suggested elsewhere, I am trying to update the site from time to time.

29 May 2000 Three new sections have been added:

• 15-year results (previously 10 years alone)
• statistical charts for intermediate periods
• suggested risk premiums (equities over UK gilts)

 Apart from making sure the site is internally consistent, it is worth mentioning that the FRED20 draft has now become a full accounting standard called FRS17.

3 April 2001 Apart from making navigation a bit easier (email and sitemap buttons at top of each page), here are the important changes:

• the results (10 and 15) have been extended to include calendar year 200
• the charts have been made extended and are now clearer (I hope)
• I have changed my mind about “how long”
• previous articles may be obtained by request (no more downloads)

13 December 2001 The colours have been amended (to fit in with the rest of the site, because I felt like it) but the charts have been left in their blue state. In early 2002, when I have results for 2001, I shall update the charts. At the moment, I’m also thinking about estimation bias which I hope to cover next time as well.

24 March 2002 The charts have been updated until the end of 2001 and the colours have been brought into line with the rest of the site. Being generated in Excel, the original charts were sized 977 by 600, a standard which, apparently, cannot be amended (if placed on separate chartsheets).

Even in GIF form, the size was typically getting on for 20K, which I thought a bit too large. So I’ve cut them back to 720 by 442, which will fit into 800 by 600 screens and will take less time to download. Apart from those links, there is also a rollover link for each chart to an even smaller image (500 by 307). As the definition is not as good as for the originals, I’ll be happy to put up the ”977” images if anyone wants them; just say.

Sadly, the rollovers are only viewable in IE.

7 April 2002 It has occurred to me that someone might want to see some actual DVRs and a few time comparisons have been added in chart form.

I intend there will be more.
