Some Benenden members may well agree that the Board's destruction of Democracy For Tomorrow has been utterly inappropriate or worse. Given that the Board has succeeded in gaining a huge majority, I now know why turkeys vote for Christmas.
For those who voted against the Board's motion, what next? Well, the Rules still include provision for proposing a motion to the 2026 AGM. Apart from needing to be very carefully worded, it also requires 250 members to support it.
While former representatives of other communities have become and will remain involved in trying to overturn the result democratically, former representatives of the North & East Kent and West Kent & Sussex Borders Communities have already produced a preliminary draft proposition, which is being carefully reviewed. When more material becomes available, it will be published here.
We are now also collecting details of as many members as possible who will be prepared to support the proposition. We will need name, email address, membership number and confirmation of membership (as opposed to being a nominee). Please note that personal details will only be shared securely within a very small group. While we shall assume that we can count upon any support offered, anyone can write in to withdraw support (I hope noone does that!).
Please contact me (at DiscRate) to provide those details; thank you very much
